Still weird hearing Jodie* speaking perfect Japanese.

(still surnamed Saintmillion in the credits 😅)

Lorium • 2 years ago

Well she was never American in the first place, according to Hattori (I think).

Jodie's nationality actually is American. if you watch episode 345 again, a tiny Jodie appears in a flashback speaking perfect English. the showrunners obviously chose an American living/working in Japan. or they hired one in the US who recorded the tiny Jodie's lines here.

the Black Organization doesn't just operate inside Japan, they're a worldwide criminal network. otherwise, why would Vermouth be disguised for so many decades as Sharon Vineyard an American actress, and then stage Sharon's death to create the persona of that actress' daughter Chris Vineyard? Vermouth was also the serial killer from Shin and Ran's NYC case, the one with Shin's mom and Sharon.

Heiji discovered Jodie's perfect Japanese by getting her drunk during the investigation into Jodie's neighbor falling out of his window and dying. shrug. she just uses Engrish and a sing-song accent/tone of voice with her Japanese to disguise her expertise in the language and cement her false persona. playing a ditzy American who is so obsessed with Japanese games she got a job teaching HS English is much easier to sell if her Japanese isn't perfect.

the FBI has access to some of the best language experts from around the world. they're shared assets with the US State Department, NSA, and CIA.

9:36, he does this on purpose lol. 10:26, finally someones acknowleged it! 10:46, there's no way he can't see Conan's hand. 22:48, I want to know more of Vermouth's backstory now, cause she seems evil but also not at the same time.

2:31 - Maybe we should account the rough writing (EDIT: on the paper) in the case...
3:04 - Interesting, maybe because the friend thought it was the principal only because of how similar the umbrellas were.
7:06 - What. WHAT? Water marks and a line on the ground, and he was able to understand the trick used? Let me pause for a moment and think about it.

oh. OH. UMBRELLA. They hid the desk on the umbrella, and somehow, they used something to transport it. That's why the friend thought it was the principal, and it's the umbrella that was wet that made those water marks. The question is, how did they transport it? Most likely a rope trick where you glide the umbrella to the courtyard, it has to do with those lines in the courtyard, hmm...

7:33 - I completely forgot about the wax. It's definitely important.

8:10 - I KNEW IT THEY ARE ALL BRINGING UMBRELLAS.

8:54 - We have dusty and muddy, wet, and unused. The art student couldn't have done it. Somehow, the wet one doesn't make sense if they were inside the health suite, coincidence? Plus, if Kasumi was the culprit, why would she say something about the principal if they know it was going to be a lie? That would be suspicious.

10:23 - I wondered why the deduction show starts here, but then I realized, I haven't solved the rest of the incidents just yet.. Darn. Each even has a hint too, and I don't want to solve for everything.

11:54 - IT WAS RIGHT

Thoughts rn: Good one

hmm, I wonder if Vermouth is THAT dedicated to her role or if maybe she enjoyed being a kindly doctor around regular people
